Newfies visit Waiheke

Written by steve on 30/05/2010 04:00

Today our new friends from Kiwi Newfs club came to visit our little island. Despite it being the middle of winter here, as you can see it's not exactly cold!
Alas, Jeb isn't in any of the pictures: He has hurt his leg so had to stay home.

Segway Day!

Written by Steve on 02/01/2010 06:39

We did a fantastic 2-hour tour of Devonport on Segway "magic broomsticks" - see their website and take a look at our website under Events / Days Out.

Added Goodbye photos

Written by Steve on 14/10/2009 21:03

We've been catching up on updating the website and have now added pictures of our goodbyes in Devon, Shrewsbury and Wivelsfield Green. There's still a few more events to do, so we'll get to those in the next few days. In the meantime, life in NZ continues to be brilliant - if a little soggy!

Written by Steve on 26/08/2009 11:23

We think we've found a house to rent in New Zealand, ready for our arrival on 8th October. We've not signed contracts yet but it's looking promising. Look under Photo Albums / Events / House Move.

Removers .. day 2.

Written by Steve on 26/08/2009 11:19

There are now 3 blokes and so better progress is being made. Some doubt whether or not our stuff will fit into the 40ft container though!!

Removers have arrived!

Written by Steve on 25/08/2009 14:00

Only 2 blokes so far, trying to do the work of 4. Have posted some pictures (see 2009 photos) and will add more as it goes along. Wish us all luck!!

So you can admire Lucy's handywork. We hope she'll have the time to do much more of this in future.

Survived the weekend.

Written by Steve on 25/03/2009 10:13

Had a good time with Lucy's parents - went to Amberley as planned which was even better than expected. Ate too much, drank too much - the usual.
We've got my mum coming to visit this weekend so got to get the house ready all over again. It's like running a hotel sometimes!
In other news, the "buyers" of our house in France have already started delaying tactics so we're not at all hopeful of any sale actually transpiring.
On job news, nothing yet. Several perfect-looking jobs have failed to materialise. Anyone need a C#/Oracle developer?!

Preparing the house for Lucy's parents visit...

Written by Steve on 20/03/2009 11:51

Lots of cleaning and tidying to do. My life as a house-elf is a constant joy!
Looks like it's going to be good weather this weekend so I think we might go to Amberley Working Museum ( with the dogs. Also got some restaurants booked for tomorrow night ("Food") and Sunday lunch (Bryce's fish place, on the seafront).
As well as planning our entertainment I'm now also busy applying for jobs. So far there are a couple of interesting prospects on Jobserve so fingers crossed!

Saw "Watchmen" at London Imax last night ...

Written by Steve on 18/03/2009 16:45

... good film, but *very* long - would benefit from having about an hour of tedious dialog cut out. It was an excellent evening though - nice to see Mark on his birthday :-)
Spent yesterday walking the dogs on Kingswood Common in the sunshine with Lucy and Kathryn. Had lunch at The Sportsman pub ( - highly recommended!

Possible news on our house sale...

Written by Steve on 17/03/2009 08:51

We accepted another offer on the house in France yesterday afternoon. This is the 6th offer to date so we're not getting our hopes up too much, but early signs are promising.
If all goes according to plan, we should have a reasonably secure contract in place and a deposit taken within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Fingers crossed that we can now get on with the rest of our lives!

New photos added of our house

Written by Steve on 11/03/2009 12:59

Added some photos of our house in Worthing - taken just after we moved in last year.

Working on picture tagging

Written by Steve on 10/03/2009 11:24

I'm currently working on adding a "tag" function for the website so we'll be able to record who is shown in each photo and allow a search across albums to display all photos where a particular person/thing is shown.

New photos added.

Added some photos of walks around Worthing - see 2008 section "Cissbury ring".
